Work with Me

My work moves between science, storytelling, field practice, and art, and I show up in a few different ways, depending on what a given moment or organization needs.

Wild Literacy Workshop

A two-hour immersive field practice for groups—conservation organizations, universities, retreat centers, yoga studios, community gatherings, and individuals. This workshop takes place outside. It begins with a landscape orientation, and moves into a guided observational practice, journaling, and reflection—including connecting observations of the natural world to how individuals show up in their own lives. Participants leave with a concrete practice they can sustain on their own, and a small field notebook so they can carry it forward. It is experiential, grounded in science, and meets people where they are; no prior knowledge required. Available wherever I am—which is often somewhere interesting. Speaking and Storytelling

For several decades, I've brought water science, field research, adventure, and storytelling into rooms that need all of it—translating the weight of what's actually happening to our watersheds, our landscapes, and our climate into something an audience can feel and act on. I've keynoted, read, and given scientific voice from university lecture halls to VIP dinners. [Learn more →]

Water Science Consulting

As President of Water Futures, I've spent three decades working on water security, watershed science, and environmental policy with municipalities, tribes, NGOs, and private landowners. I work selectively with organizations whose goals align with mine and who understand that water is not a resource problem—it's a relationship problem. [Learn more →]

Wild Painting

This is a practice of immersing myself in wild and sacred places—the desert Southwest, canyon country, the coast—absorbing the energy of these spaces, and translating it to large-scale paintings, words, and images. This often means paint and canvas sprawled out on a desert road or hitting the trail, taking in a landscape, and channeling its essence into words, sketches, and photographs. Paintings are available periodically. In the future, expect to see limited-edition documents—small, numbered, beautiful objects that hold field notes, science, story, and whatever artifacts the journey produces. If something moves you, reach out. [Learn more →]
